The guides want you to have the best experience and help you if needed (Torean trek can be challenging). We had an amazing boat trip around Komodo Island! The highlights included snorkeling with sea turtles, manta rays, and colorful clownfish (Nemos), and of course, seeing the mighty Komodo dragon up close. The boat had comfortable cabins with well-functioning AC, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the journey. Evenings were full of fun, especially when the crew taught us traditional Indonesian dances – such a fun and unexpected bonus. We also had a personal photographer with us the whole time who filmed underwater, took stunning photos, and flew a drone to capture the experience from every angle – absolutely brilliant! The tour was exhausting, but worth every step as the landscape is simply stunning throughout the trip. Even though there are many people on the trek at the same time it never felt too crowded. We booked the Deluxe Package and got a lot of nice meals, snacks and well maintained equipment. My girlfriend as vegetarian also had nothing to worry about. The hike itself is already great, but what made it even better and put the cherry on top was our guide Yon. Nice and funny guy, speaking very good english and always gives minute accurate estimations on the time until next stop. Besides him, our porter were also real champions. They took care so well of our well-being and always had a smile on their faces. Not even mentioning their incredible speed, strength and endurance. We did the 3 day 2 nights trek. Everything from the communication to the food to the stories the guides told was enjoyable and I would highly recommend to go with green Rinjani if you want to do Mt Rinjani. Wae Rebo 2 day tour Communication with the agency at the time of booking was perfect, which is about the only positive point. The agency didn't warn us that (despite being at the end of the rainy season), it was still raining heavily every afternoon, so we trekked to the village in torrential rain. The path became extremely dangerous, the “guide” left us on our own and we arrived completely soaked despite our rain gear (our clothes are still wet 2 days later and our smartphones almost died - obviously they didn't tell us we had to carry a waterproof pouch for the electronics). The guides were friendly but useless: we did the trek practically on our own, they gave almost no briefing on the program, no explanation of the village, etc. We told them 3 weeks in advance that we wanted a transfer to Ruteng after the tour instead of going back to Labuan Bajo, and they said OK and that they'd take care of it. During the tour we realized that they hadn't communicated with each other (confusion over which driver would keep our backpacks during the trek), and right up to the last moment we were afraid we'd never get to Ruteng (they looked for a local bus to take us there on the spot, they hadn't booked anything for us). In short, a stressful experience that was all the more outrageous knowing that we paid $100pp for the tour. We really liked our porters and guide, they did an excellent job with meal prepping. The tent and equipment were nice. My only complaint is that the packing list did not include hand sanitizer which I wish I had given that we are hiking, using the bathroom, and eating for the 3 day 2 night trek. I asked if any of the porters or guides had any soap or hand sanitizer and they did not which I found very disturbing given that they were preparing our meals.
